The Henna by Anders Experience
Henna is an ancient art form, with the earliest records of its use dating back 5,000 years. Traditionally an element of cultures in countries where the henna grows (it's a flowering bush), it has long been used to decorate the body for marking special occasions such as marriages. Our designs honor this tradition and the chain of artists who have gone before us.

After booking your session, you will be contacted by one of our artists to discuss and plan. The time allotted for your session may be extended or shortened based on your unique needs. After this initial consultation, you will be sent options for your design in advance of your appointment (if timing allows). Adjustments can be made to suit your goals. Our design experience ranges from "something floral" all the way to "symbolize my fears and hopes before going in for surgery". We love a challenge, and the more meaning you'd like to embed in your design, the better.

When you arrive for your session you will be taken to a private room and made comfortable while the wet henna paste is applied with a cone. While the paste dries on the skin, you can enjoy some pampering with scalp massage and/or foot and hand massage. Once dry, a flexible body tape is applied to the design to protect it while it stains the skin beneath. Remove the tape after at least 6 hours and enjoy your design for the next 1-3 weeks!

My background is as a medical illustrator (portfolio viewable on Instagram, link below). I love working on the human body directly & collaborating with clients to design their perfect piece. One of my favorite moments is when an unborn baby "contributes" to the design by wiggling away while I apply henna to their belly home.

I’ve been doing digital art for years and traditional for many more! When it comes to henna I’ve been working with it for roughly seven years now. I’ve always enjoyed being able to get to know small things about the people I work on, hearing their stories and experiences, big or small, is one of my favorite parts of working so closely with clients.
